Young Athletes
Track and Field
As a club we compete in the Young Athletes League (YAL), Heart of England League (HOE), National Junior League (NJL) and the New Under 11’s League. For the YAL, HOE and NJL you need to be selected. This is done by team managers and is by performances in the year of competition.

National Young Athletes League
We compete in the Midlands Premier Division. There are five matches from May to July. The competition is in three age groups U13’s, U15’s & U17’s. Two athletes are selected for each event. Heart of England League
We are in the 1st Division for the Heart of England League. There are three matches between June and September. U11’s also compete in this league together with U13’s, U15’s & U17’s. The same eight teams compete against each other at each of the three matches. Two athletes are selected for each event.
National Junior League
The aim of this league is to provide competition for U20 age group. U17's are also encourage to compete which helps towards bridging the gap from young athlete to senior. This is the only league where U20 athletes can compete within their own age group. We currently compete in the Avon League.

New U11’s League
This league is at it suggests, is for U11’s only. Any athlete in school year 3, 4 or 5 may compete – no selection required. Athletes compete in a run, jump and a throw in each match. The events are specified and change for each match. Individual trophies are awarded to top 3 all rounder athletes.
Open Meetings
We encourage all athletes to enter open meetings throughout the season. Details of dates, venues & events will be posted on the Clubhouse Noticeboard or via the website. This enables all athletes to gain competition experience and practice. Team Manager’s can also update athletes times, heights, distances etc which helps when selecting squads for competition. As a club we host a Spring Open Meet each year which attracts athletes from around the Midlands area.
County Championships
All athletes (U11’s, U13’s, U15’s, U17’s, U20’s) are expected to enter the County Championships held in May each year. For further information visit the Three Counties website at www.3counties.co.uk.
Midland Championships

National Championships

Junior Club Championships
Held annually and open to club athletes from Year 3 through to Year 9. All athletes are expected to enter. Medals are awarded to the first three in each event. Overall awards are made to the top three all rounders in each age group. Opportunity for non club athletes to compete in nominated open events.
Performances, Rankings & Records
The club keeps an eye on athlete’s progress. In the younger age groups we use a performance ladder ranking athletes progress throughout the season in each event. Time trials and assessments are regularly carried out in training sessions. The national athletics ranking system we use is www.powerof10.info
