Seniors
Introduction
Within Athletics, unlike in many other walks of life, the term Senior refers to anybody over the age of 17 – until that age the term is ‘Young Athletes’, whereas the term ‘Masters / Veterans’ refers to anybody over 35. Within the category of Senior there are also championships and representative competitions at Under 20 & Under 23 level. Rugby & Northampton AC have a number of members and passed members who gained international honours in these 2 age-groups.
Senior Competition in athletics is open to anyone aged 17 and over. All team and league events are contested by club teams made up of anybody who is over 17 and teams often include Masters / Veterans. There are also separate Track and Field Leagues for Under 20’s and Masters.

Within all of our training groups seniors and veterans train together in coaching groups which are structured according to their ability as well their particular specialty, be it sprints, field events, middle distance or road running. There is no real distinction, and all club members are welcome to any session. All training groups are let by one or more qualified coaches and you will also find that you fellow club members can provide a wealth of experience and advice.
