Within Athletics, unlike in many other walks of life, the term Senior refers to anybody over the age of 17 – until that age the term is ‘Young Athletes’, whereas the term ‘Masters / Veterans’ refers to anybody over 35. Within the category of Senior there are also championships and representative competitions at Under 20 & Under 23 level. Rugby & Northampton AC have a number of members and passed members who gained international honours in these 2 age-groups.
Senior Competition in athletics is open to anyone aged 17 and over. All team and league events are contested by club teams made up of anybody who is over 17 and teams often include Masters / Veterans. There are also separate Track and Field Leagues for Under 20’s and Masters.
