Seniors
Ladies Track and Field
The Senior Ladies Track & Field team is one of the leading Senior Teams in the UK. Currently, the team ranks in the top 10 in the Country, having consistently ranked there for the last 6 years. The team currently competes in Division 2 of the UK Women’s Athletic League, having been relegated from Division 1 last season. The Club has been in the League for the last 9 years, and has yo-yo’d between Division 1 and Division 2 in the last 6 years. There are 3 league matches each year, usually on the first weekend in June, July & August. The team also competes in the BAL Cup competition and have reached the Cup Final several times in recent years. Their best result was in 2008 when they finished as runners-up
The team includes many quality athletes from within the Midlands as well as from further afield, and expects to continue its high ranking. Amongst our current athletes are 400m specialist, Vicky Barr, who is a full International, and was in the GB team for last years Olympics, Shot Putter Rachel Wallader, who is currently the UK U/23 Champion, High Jumper Sophie Hine who is the current British University’s Champion, as well as sprinter and former GB International, Ellena Ruddock, who was 3rd in last years UK Indoor Championships at 200m. To add to those quality athletes we have 100m hurdler Gemma Werrett, Triple Jumper Claire O’Reilly, sprinter Emma Bailey and Discus thrower Emma Merry, who is also a former GB International. All of them are highly in the National rankings.
With Club’s younger athletes showing great depth and quality, their progress into the U/20 and Senior ranks will ensure that the Senior Ladies Track and Field Team standing will be maintained in the future.
