   BIRMINGHAM XC LEAGUE DIV. 1      GLOUCESTER     DEC.2^ND.

  Matt  Almond  confirmed his status as the club’s no.1 Cross Country runner when he Led home Rugby & Northampton in the second race of the Birmingham League. Almond finished in 22^nd  place in the Division One meeting at Plock Court, Gloucester And covered the 6 mile course in 32 mins 52 secs. Making the team for the first time was teenager Steve Milner who had an excellent run Over the 3 lap course of mainly flat grassland and crossed the line in 84^th spot in 35.19. Third man home was Vince Carroll when he came from way back outside the scoring 6 By using all his dogged determination, which epitomizes his role as club captain to complete The race in 99^th position with 36.03. The final three R & N runners to score in the team had a battle down the finishing straight. Winning the sprint for the line was Junior Stephen Emery ( 104^th ) when he just edged out The Veteran pair of Terry Egan and Brendan Moen with all three given the same time of 36.19 Although the team finished 12^th of the 13 clubs it wasn’t enough to lift them off the Bottom overall. The withdrawal of Stephen Gill after two laps meant the ‘B’ team was incomplete, but Leading them home was Steve Reeves in 127^th place with a time of 37.57. He was followed Home by Jamie Sewell ( 135^th in 38.46 ), Brian Summers  ( 139^th  in 39.11 ), Nigel  Sewel ( 154^th  in 41.55 ) and Bryan Acford  ( 159^th  in 42.47 ).
