CHARITY CUP XC RACE      KETTERING     DEC. 9TH.

  Matt Almond became the fourth Northampton runner to win the Senior Men’s Charity Cup Cross Country race. Held at Wicksteed Park in Kettering the course consisted of one small loop followed by Three large laps over 6 miles and Almond coasted to victory by over a minute in 34 mins 2 secs.  

For the first time the race incorporated the County Championships for Veteran Men. Vince Carroll won silver in the over 35 category when he finished 7th overall in 36.50.Just Ten seconds behind was Brendan Moen( 8),which made him the champion in the over 40 race.

 Terry Egan won his 50th individual County medal  by clinching the over 45 title in 9th spot by recording  37.08 and completing the team was Alan Mould  ( 23rd  in 41.20 ) who won silver Behind Egan. This quartet won the team title for the sixth year in a row.  

Rugby & Northampton  failed to finish a six man Senior team, therefore Kettering Town Harriers Retained the Charity Cup. Stephen  Emery  had another good  performance to finish in 10th place with 37.27.Following Him across the line was Lee Berrill  ( 13th  in 38.12 ), Brian Summers  ( 18th  in 39.07 ), Simon Partridge  ( 20th  in  39.21 ), John Saw  ( 27th  in 42.00 ), Adrian White  ( 29th  in 42.34 ) And  Bryan Acford  ( 37th  in  44.21 )

The club also had victories from Haydon Thomas in the 13 boys race- Haydon took victory from fellow club member Matthew Finigan by 6 seconds in 11:56. The team which included Conor Hills comfortable won the gold medal. The u15 girls led home by Rachel Barber in 3rd place took second overall in the team event. In The u15 Boys event George Cardwell and Luke Robinson reversed places from the county schools final. The pair ran the early part of the race side by side before Cardwell pulled away and finished strongly to record a 17 sec victory in 16:01. The R+N pair showed they will be a force in the upcoming county champs as the 3rd place athlete was 50 seconds behind the winner. The winning team was completed with joe barlow finishing in 6th not far behind the bronze in a time of 16:57.

Louise Thompson took the senior womans title holding of from a strong run by fellow R+N Rachel Shaw. The pair where followed home by Michelle leach who captured 3rd place in the masters 35 catorgory
