The annual Hampton Cup took place once again for Rugby & Northampton athletes at Lawford Heath. 

The event was first started by Rugby A.C. 62 years ago and consists of a 4 mile road run over a 1 lap undulating course. The race has seen 31 different names engraved on the winner's trophy during its long history and this year the champions from the last 4 years took part. 

Coming out on top was the 2002 winner Stuart Meadows who led the race from start to finish with a time of 22 mins 6 secs. At one point he had a big lead, but hung on desperately in the end from a fast finishing Stephen Emery who clawed the lead back to just 5 seconds. In third spot was the winner from two years ago Vince Carroll who fought hard with Stephen, but just lost out with a time of 22.14. Tom Cleary, the champion from 2003,was the next man across the line in 22.33 and last years victor Terry Egan had to settle for 5th place this time with 22.41. Five other men also completed the course with Eddie Hill recording 23.20,Tony Hetherington 23.40,Jamie Sewell 23.46,Nigel Sewell 24.46 and Tony Chambers 25.26
