British Masters Championships, Cardiff - 3,4th July

Returning to his homeland for the British Master’s track and Field Championships, the Cardiff Track provided rich pickings despite the blustery wind for 75 year old Veteran athlete John Evans with 4 Golds and a Championship Best Performance M75. Over the 2 Days John ran 17.0s _100m, 35.49s_200m, jumped 3.71m in Long Jump and a 7.80m CBP record Triple Jump netting 4 wins in total.
In the 50+ age group; Kevin Murch also had a CBP for the Javelin winning with 54.87m, while John Moreland contested 4 events claiming; Gold in the discus _46.46m, silvers in Shot _11.75m plus the Heavy weight 14.92m, but only 4th in the Hammer _42.86m.
The ladies were equally prolific with the medals. In the W60 class new club member Jean Fail notched a New British record winning the 80m Hurdles in 14.46s, then gained Gold in the LJ with 3.84m. Sally Hine , also W60, leapt to gold in the High Jump 1.15m, collected silvers in the Hurdles 16.07m and LJ 3.32m, then rounded the day off with bronzes in the 100m _16.09s and 200m _33.88s.
Lesley Willis, W45, also produced 5 medals; Gold in the Triple Jump _8.97m, silver in the 400m despite her best time this year 66.46s plus 3 Bronze medals; 100m _14.36s, 200m _29.01s (Seasons Best), and LJ _4.45m.
John Evans also competed in the South West Vets Championships at Exeter producing another 4 Golds;100m 1st 16.9s, 200m 1st 34.9, LJ 1st 3.55m, and TJ 1st 7.96 Ch BP and his best performance this year.
Hungary is the next athletics stage as John and Jean fly off to compete in the European Vets Championships later this month.
