Xmas Handicap - Sat 20th December
Brian Malin wins mens trophy whilst Kate Lundy retains ladies shield
This traditional race on the last Saturday before Christmas took place this year with a disappointing field of 12 runners - surely not every club member was out shopping!
The runners started according to their handicap time (slowest first) and followed the usual 3.5 mile course from the Athletics track, Horton Crescent, Barby Road, Ashlawn Road and Percival Road finishing with a lap of the track. Only 4 runners beat their handicap time but 9 out the 12 were within one minute of the time set for them by the handicapper. Performance of the day came from Jamie Sewell - starting last he stormed round the circuit in 19 minutes 5 seconds (after later checks). He was the fastest man but only managed to finish in 8th place due to some easier handicaps in front of him. Fastest lady was Madeline Smith in 24 minutes 16 seconds.
