Alison Cooper achieved her highest placing of the season when she led home the Rugby & Northampton ladies in the third round of the Midland Womens League at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley. The Veteran athlete covered the 7km distance in 28 mins 52 secs to finish in 42nd place over the 1 lap course. Cooper is now well on her way to clinch the R&N club title after completing her fifth race of the season.

Improving nine places from the previous meeting was Daisy Melville and the 36 year old recorded 29.30 for 52nd spot while Angela Copson made the team for the third time in 68th position on 30.05.

With only Veteran runners taking part for the club the leading trio finished 13th in the Senior team competition and 5th in the Masters race.

Team manager Kate Williams was only 12 seconds behind Copson in 70th place and was also supported by Tricia Garner (156th in 35.47), Barbara Parkinson ( 169th in 36.30) and Ann Rollings (174th in 36.48).

The final race takes place at Cheltenham on February 11th.
