Blisworth Friday 5 mile - Fri 5th August

Rugby & Northampton AC had 20 athletes running in the 23rd edition of the Blisworth Friday 5 mile road race and the top man home for the club was Luke Robinson who finished in a superb 3rd place. The Junior athlete recorded a time of 28 mins 37 secs and is vying to be the no. 1 road runner from the club. Robinson is now only one race away from becoming the R&N club champion.

In tenth place and winning the M45 category was Greg Spellman with 29.16 and completing the team was Liam Ratcliffe who was 10 seconds behind Spellman in 12th spot.

Mens team manager Vince Carroll crossed the line in 23rd position with 30.36 and taking victory in the Under 17 category was Robert Male who was timed at 32.47 for 38th overall.

The next athlete home for R&N was the first lady for the club Melanie Wood in 34 mins 9 secs to clinch 5th place, but this gave the 17 year old victory in the Under 20 race.

Daisy Melville finished in 7th spot on 34.30 and with Wootton Road Runners Kirsty Gallagher taking the overall first prize, Melville had the honour of picking up the first W35 award.

Double world champion Angela Copson took yet another W60 victory to close off the Ladies team in 8th position with a time of 34.40.

Also turning out for the club in the Mens race were Aaron Lincoln (62nd in 34.22), Neil Glover ( 68th in 34.29), James Myhill ( 94th in 36.09), Neil Martin ( 136th in 39.15), Andrew Gabbitas ( 155th in 40.12), Paul Bramley ( 183rd in 42.02) and Joe Horsley ( 190th in 42.23).

In the Ladies race Junior athlete Gabriella Moriarty finished in 14th place with 37.04 and was followed home by Veterans Karen Spellman ( 41st in 42.57), Nicola Durose ( 52nd in 45.04), Lisa Johnson ( 55th in 45.35 ) and Valerie Cross ( 70th in 52.03).
