Northamptonshire X-Country Championships 2009

The Northants Cross Country Champs of 2009 will be hosted by Rugby & Northampton A.C. at Abington Park on Saturday 10th January. This will be the seventh time since 1985 that this venue has been used for the Championships.
For the first time ever all athletes in the Under 20 age group for both Men and Women will run as Seniors giving clubs with promising younger athletes to strengthen the Senior Teams. This is a decision that is long overdue for two main reasons, the first being it will not deny Junior athletes the Senior title if they win the race outright and secondly, there are so few entrants in the Under 20 section that quite often there are no complete teams and the competitive edge is lost.
However, Junior athletes will be given the chance to win county medals in their own age group by taking part in the Charity Cup at Kettering on December 13th as this race incorporates the County Cross Country Champs for Under 20 athletes as well as Masters.
